Welcome to my closet…lots of neutral colors. I often accent with colorful pieces of jewelry, but I happen to have several black and white shirts (much to my fashionable sister’s chagrin). A few weeks ago, I was looking at two almost identical black t-shirts in my closet and I thought, “One of these needs some serious pizzazz.” On Pinterest, I came across several pictures for freshening up a plain t-shirt. There were lots of ideas about adding flowers (done this and love it) and adding lace. I had some lace that I had gotten at a fabric store last winter with intensions of using it somehow. And now I had the perfect project for it.
This is a super simple project (30 min max) that you can do at home and end up with a shirt that feels a little less like drool, food, and dirt covered mommy clothes, and little more like “hello, stylin’ mama.” Here it goes…
What you’ll need:
Plain shirt (mine was a cheapy from Old Navy)
Strand of lace a little longer than the length of your shirt
Thread
Sewing machine (although you could easily do this by hand, and I don’t think it would take too long)

Step 1: prep your lace if needed. I had to add an this extra step at the beginning, but if you by lace that lays flat, you wouldn’t have to.
Step 2: Sew the lace on the shirt. (I just eyeballed the middle of the shirt, pinned it, and sewed it on tucking the top and bottom pieces over the top and bottom of the shirt.)
Seriously, how simple is that!? I love it.
