Neighborhood Highlight #2 – PoPo’s Fiesta Del Sol

1

I’m back to share about another family favorite restaurant. My family started going to PoPo’s when I was a small child. We went to the original location on 67th Ave & Indian School several times a month for years. We’d go with extended family. Us kids would play outside while we waited for a table (there is usually a wait). Once we got to the table, the parents would order drinks and a cheese crisp and the kids would get sarsaparillas. Such a fun treat! Their chips and salsa are awesome. And their wide selection of Mexican food is just delicious.

Our extended family still often meets at the newer location at 59th Ave & Bell Road. We still order a cheese crisp to start off every meal. My 86 year old grandma always says, “there is just something special about their cheese.” I know it’s a funny statement about such a simple food, but I’d have to agree. Try the cheese crisp as an appetizer and you won’t be disappointed. Now, I usually opt for their great margaritas instead of a sarsparilla.

It’s so fun to have a place to take my kids that has so many warm memories for me as a child. Now, when we tell our 2 year old that we are going to PoPo’s she responds with, “Yea! Our family be there too?!”

If you’re looking for a new Mexican restaurant to try, head to PoPo’s, and let me know if you do.
